How vocational training helps to save the Galapagos Islands

The Culinary School is a programme aimed at providing young residents of the Galapagos Islands with vocational training for the hospitality industry. It is an education project aimed at reducing the human impact on the islands by contributes to achieve the following:
- Reduce both legal and illegal immigration to the islands
- Improve the quality of life for legal local residents
- Improve standards for Galapagos tourism operations
The programme is run in close cooperation with the High-School of Galapagos, and it has received the support from local tour operators, the Charles Darwin Foundation, and a number of foreign organizations. A representative of UNESCO said "this is one of the most outstanding vocational training programmes in South America."
